Learning to identify and understand the natural history and ecology of over 125 woody plant species that grow in the Duke Forest and nearby are the main learning activities of this field class. Jeffrey Pippen and Dan Richter with TA Jason Jackson will lead this class to a wide variety of habitats in the Duke Forest and on the Duke campus. All attributes of woody plants are taught including bark, twigs, buds, foliation, fruits, and ecosystem. Several forest and land measurements are also part of the class. Env 201 is wrapped up in early Nov.
