| Research Interests | Statistics in Ecology, Bayesian Statistics, Foundations of Statistics. Dr. Lavine's current ecological projects include (1) an analysis of seed dispersal and seedling survival in forests, including a spatial and temporal analysis of how seedling success influences forest succession, (2) analysis of various data sets gathered in the Free-Air Carbon Dioxide Enrichment (FACE) Experiment in the Duke Forest -- a project that aims to understand how an entire forest ecosystem (vegetation and soils) will respond to growth in elevated CO2, (3) organizing and coordinating the "Ecostat Lunch", a weekly forum for ecologists and statisticians to gather in an informal setting to discuss problems of mutual interest and (4) consultation with Ecology faculty and students on a wide range of ecological studies requiring statistical analysis. | |
